Get rid of all your cards before your opponents do. This is the Central European version played with 32 German-suited cards, and the rules are below the game.
How to play
Back to the gameGoal
The first player to get rid of all their cards wins.
Cards and the deal
The game uses 32 single-headed German-suited cards. The suits are Hearts, Leaves, Acorns and Bells. The ranks are VII, VIII, IX, X, Unter, Ober, King and Ace. The corner of each card shows VII to X or a letter: J (Unter), Q (Ober), K (King) and A (Ace). The Unter shows its suit sign low on the card, the Ober high.
Everyone gets 5 cards. Before the game you can choose 4, as is usual in Czechia. One card is turned face up to start the discard pile and the rest forms the stock. The first card counts as an ordinary card, even if it is a seven or an ace. An Ober turned up keeps its own suit.
Your turn
- Play one card of the same suit or the same rank as the top card of the discard pile.
- If you cannot or do not want to, draw one card from the stock. That ends your turn.
- When the stock runs out, the discard pile except its top card is shuffled into a new stock. If nothing is left to draw, you have to play, and if you cannot, the turn passes.
Special cards
- Seven: the next player draws 2 cards and their turn ends. They can answer with a seven of their own, and then the next player draws the total (4, 6, 8).
- Ace: the next player misses a turn. They can answer with an ace of their own, and then the next player misses a turn instead.
- Ober: works like the wild eight in Crazy Eights. It can go on any card except a seven nobody has drawn for yet or an ace nobody has missed a turn for. Whoever plays it calls a suit, and the next player has to follow that suit or play another Ober.
Variants
Both are off by default and can be switched on before the game.
- A seven makes you draw 3 cards instead of 2.
- Seven of Hearts brings a player back: when a player plays their last card, the next player can bring them back with the Seven of Hearts if it can be played. The returning player draws as many cards as for a seven, so 2, or 3 with the first variant. If their last card was a seven, they draw the total. Then the game goes on.
Controls
Tap or click a card once to play it. You can also drag it onto the discard pile. On a keyboard, move between cards with the arrow keys and press Enter to play one. Cards you can play are raised. Draw with the button or by tapping the stock. The line above your cards tells you what the computers played and what to do next. A game in progress is saved and continues when you come back.
